Level Six NVQ Portfolio Course with a programme of fixed dates;

‘Building your Assessment Portfolio’

Included in the course:

Two full day workshops
Four ‘one to one’ tutorials and review of assessment plans
Two hours free ‘one to one’ coaching (one hour per visit, these can be in person or via webcam)
Support and guidance provided by your assessor with prompt marking of your work and detailed feedback and guidance throughout
Two free evidence collection workshops

Intakes: January,  July/August and October 

Two full day workshops on Monday 10th August and Wednesday 12th August, the deadline for applications is 31st July 2015

Time:        10am to 5pm

Tutorial times are arranged between student and assessor
The programme for the 2 days of workshops will cover;

·         Level Six NVQ & terminology
·         building your assessment portfolio
·         what to do and how to do it!
·         creation of an Initial Assessment  Plan (IAP) to plan your schedule

At the final workshop students will complete their initial assessment plan (IAP) and  fix dates for their next 4 tutorials; see below

1st tutorial and review assessment plans – TBA

4th final tutorial and review assessment plans – TBA

Please note you must send in your film clips 2 weeks in advance of the tutorial dates.

Students attend 4 tutorials in total while working on their assessment portfolio (average completion takes 6-8 months). Don’t want to rush, or feel you would not  complete your portfolio within 8 months? You can apply as an External Individual candidate allowing for more flexibility and opportunity to work on your own timescale.

NVQ Evidence Collection Day – before the final tutorial, we offer two free session to facilitate evidence collection. A further session (for an additional fee) can also be arranged.

(The team will be ready to support you with constructive and positive criticism, providing guidance for successful evidence samples.)

Qualification: Signature Level Six NVQ Certificate in BSL (to gain the full qualification, you have to achieve both units 601 & 602)

Portfolio fees: £1100 per person self funded / £1300 per person funded by employer/organisation, this does not include the Candidate Registration fee and EV moderator fees. See below for these additional costs.

If you cannot afford one lump payment, you can make monthly instalments, as long as you have paid the course fee before portfolio submissions. Please note; there is an extra charge of £2 per monthly instalment.

Candidate Registration fee: £186 for both units and EV Moderator: £330 – this EV cost is divided amongst Candidates but the maximum you will have to pay is £80 this will be paid directly to Signature.

Interview:

An interview for the ‘Building your Assessment Portfolio’ course is compulsory. Applicants will meet the assessment team; Sandra Duguid, Director and a guest teacher-assessor and be provided with a full written report with constructive feedback and advice. Please note that a £50 interview fee will be charged for this meeting. Successful applicants will have £50 deducted from the course fee.

BSLworks will provide you with an indexed portfolio, USB memory stick ready for your videoed evidence samples.

What if…? (FAQ)!
Q. I have achieved the old Level Three Certificate in BSL and have not done an NVQ portfolio before – am I likely to have a problem with the Level 6 portfolio?

A. Yes and no, please inform us in advance before your interview. You will need to download the full details of Signature’s Qualification Specification NVQ Certificate Level Six in BSL from the Signature website it’s free!

Q. If I still don’t fully understand the Qualification Specification before Part A (2 x workshops) or Part B (how to build your assessment portfolio), can I have an extra workshop?
A. Yes you can, but there will be an additional cost after the two full day workshops have been completed.

Q. If I attend a 2 day workshop can I then re-apply as an external individual candidate with more flexibility to schedule dates to suit my diary?
A. Yes you can – but the portfolio fees will be more expensive. Take a look at our webpage ‘External Individual Candidates’ for more information.
