Our Courses and workshops
We hire our training room when there are enough applicants to justify this, so please book early. For smaller groups, the venue will be at the office in Harrow. If there are not enough participants, we reserve the right to cancel.
For higher level courses we carry out interviews and assessments to ensure that you are at the right level. Successful candidates will have 50% of their interview fees deducted from the course fee.
Bookings and payments for courses and workshops must be made before the deadline advertised.
We offer one-to-one sessions either at BSLworks’, at a venue of your choice or via webcam. Please note that any venue hire must be paid for by the student. Dates and times are arranged to suit you.
Bookings for one-to-one sessions will need payment in full at least one week in advance (and cleared by the bank). This will confirm the booking. If you have booked but have not paid one week prior to the date, we will cancel the booking.
If you want to make a late booking for less than a week ahead, this will be provisional until payment is received and we reserve the right to allocate the time of the appointment elsewhere.
We offer the opportunity to re-take your assessment either with an existing course or as an individual. You will need to complete a Candidate Assessment Registration (CAR) form and pay in full at least three weeks prior to the assessment. This is to meet with requirements at Signature.
Payments and Refunds
We offer a selection: one-off, full fee split into three and a monthly instalment plan (nb: there is an extra charge of £2 per monthly instalment). We ask for your payments to be made by BACS, as payments by PayPal incur an additional 4% fee. We cannot offer concessions as this incurs additional administrative costs. All payments must be paid by the stated date and are subject to our cancellation policy.
Refunds are made in accordance with our cancellation policy.
For NVQ courses we will refund your fees less an administrative fee of £100 if you cancel before the cut-off date. This is 6 weeks before the course starts.
For workshops and one-to-one sessions, the administration fee is 40% of the total fee if you cancel before the cut-off date. This is two weeks beforehand for workshops and one week for one-to-one sessions.
After the cut-off date, no refunds are made. This also applies if students withdraw for part of or all of the courses.
If we cancel, we will refund the full fee. We aim to cancel in good time and will give notice of any possible cancellations. We are not liable for any costs that you incur as a result of our cancellation.
Provided there is enough notice, students can transfer course fees from a BSLworks cancelled course to another course, workshop or one-to-one session of their choice.
Our course materials
We offer a free booklet, handbooks and free access to our library with a refundable deposit. All materials are the property of BSLworks and you can only make copies with our permission.
Please be wary of bringing valuable items into the course or workshop. BSLworks cannot be held responsible for any loss due to theft or damage.
We have an Equal Opportunities Policy, a Film Clip Consent form and a Learning Agreement which we expect you to sign and comply with. If you do not, we reserve the right to take any action which may include notifying third parties of the action taken.
We keep these for our records and comply with our data protection policy.
We have a complaints procedure. If you have a complaint, please do try and resolve it with your teacher at the earliest possible opportunity without disrupting the class.
